This too Shall Pass. . .

Activated Installation for humans, cushions, lights and sound. Made with max/msp & raspberry PI

A sister piece to my earlier Transformation Tapestry. This piece also deals with mental health and explores the changing nature of the mind. The piece also considers the impact of human on each other and the ways in which we can be at once together yet lost exploring our own thoughtscapes.

The piece is a generative and interactive installation. When uninhabited the room gently sways with the undulating drone. When humans come into the room and interact with the cushions (sit down) more sound scapes become activated. At times human interaction amplifies and creates a chorus of tones that get louder and more complex through time. Sometimes however ultrasonic speakers interrupt the bliss of the drone with negative thoughts from nowhere the words ‘sorry’ ‘what'?’ and other gibberish distrupts , lights flicker and the negative takes over building to a point where they entirely replace the serene drones.

But fortunately just as with our minds, these interruptions pass and the cycle of droning returns. This piece continues with ever changing relationships so as no two experience will be identical, for this too shall pass.
